Fundamental Differences in Material Properties
PE flanges are made of polyethylene, which is flexible and corrosion-resistant; steel-plastic transition fittings, on the other hand, are composite structures of metal and plastic. Like the difference between athletic shoes and hiking boots, while both protect the feet, the material combination determines their applicable scenarios. PE flanges are typically used in pure plastic piping systems, while steel-plastic transition fittings are specifically designed to solve the connection problem between metal and plastic pipes.

 

Significant Differences in Connection Methods
Steel-plastic transition fittings use a mechanical clamping structure to achieve material transition, much like a bilingual translator needs to handle the conversion between two languages. In contrast, PE flanges mainly connect similar plastic pipes through heat fusion or electrofusion, like direct conversation in the same language. This fundamental difference determines that PE flanges cannot be classified as steel-plastic transition fittings, just as a plug adapter cannot be equated with a power socket.

 

Complementary Relationship in Application Scenarios
In water supply and drainage engineering, PE flanges are often used for branch connections of plastic pipes, while steel-plastic transition fittings are more often found at transitional nodes in pipe network renovations. The two are like different legs in a relay race: the PE flange is responsible for the "homogeneous transfer" between plastic pipe sections, while the steel-plastic transition piece completes the "heterogeneous handover". This difference in functional positioning further confirms that they belong to different categories of pipe fittings.
